Meet Bryan

My public service career began in 1990 when I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, establishing a foundation of discipline, leadership, and a lifelong commitment to protecting others.

In 1994, I began my law enforcement career as a military police officer in the United States Marine Corps. During my service, I advanced to the role of squad leader for my military police platoon and was later promoted to Criminal Investigator while holding the rank of Sergeant. I was honored with a Meritorious Mast for outstanding service during deployment to Thailand in support of Operation Cobra Gold, as well as a Humanitarian Award for assisting flood victims in North Dakota. These experiences reinforced my dedication to public safety, service under pressure, and protecting communities both at home and abroad.

In June of 1995, I was hired by the City of Hayward Police Department as a part-time Patrol Officer, where I served until January of 2003. In March of 2002, I also joined the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Department as a part-time Patrol Deputy and Jailer. I accepted a full-time position with the Sheriff’s Department in January of 2003, continuing to build my career with a focus on public safety and community protection.

I was promoted to Patrol Deputy in August of 2005 and to Patrol Sergeant in February of 2008, where I supervised deputies and worked to ensure effective, proactive policing strategies. In December of 2014, I was promoted to Detective, leading complex investigations and collaborating with partner agencies to hold offenders accountable and enhance community safety. In January of 2026, I was promoted to Chief Deputy, where I continue to focus on leadership, accountability, and strengthening our agency’s mission to keep our community safe.

Throughout my career with the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Department, I have taken on specialized roles to further support public safety. I served for several years on the Sawyer County Dive and Rescue Team and was a member of the Sawyer County SWAT Team from 2003 to 2018. During my final three years on the team, I served as SWAT Team Commander, responsible for high-risk operations, team leadership, and critical incident response.

Across more than three decades of service, my focus has remained consistent: working collaboratively, responding effectively to challenges, and ensuring the safety and well-being of the community I am honored to serve
